Heavy rains, strong winds, dark skies. As a result, DepEd suspended classes in Metro Manila in all levels for both public and private schools.

Sept. 27, 2011: No School Due to Typhoon Pedring

Department of Education (DepEd) director Elena Ruiz announced tonight that private and public classes for tomorrow (September 27, 2011 Tuesday) in pre-K, Kinder, Elementary and High School  are suspended due to to typhoon Pedring, as per the recommendation of PAGASA.

Militant Group protests at Pandacan Oil Depot

As a result of unending oil price hike, rallyists from militant group Bagong Alyansang Makabayan-National Capital Region (Bayan-NCR) are protesting at the gate of Chevron’s Pandacan oil depot as of writing, DZMM reports. Cops are already at the scene and the firemen are already on the watch to prevent any accident.

…Mula Nagtahan Bridge, tumakbo ang mga militante patungo sa Pandacan terminal partikular sa may gate ng Chevron kung saan nagkatulakan at hilahan.

Walang nagawa ang mga pulis at security guard ng Chevron nang maitumba ng mga raliyista ang iniharang na barbed wire kaya nakalapit sa pinaka-gate…

This morning, the Department of Energy (DOE) is asking oil companies to explain the over-priced increase. DOE Undersecretary Jay Layug said in an interview that it will take them one week to investigate the matter.

Meralco Maintenance may cause brownout in Pandacan: Aug. 31, 2011

Pandacan Chairwoman exposes swindler

Chairwoman Milaflor Sabado‘s keen eyes for shrewd people were in full display last week when she exposed an alleged swindler trying to get more money at her expense.

Suspect Elpidio Modrigo of Alabang, Muntinlupa City, was arrested last Friday afternoon after Chairwoman Sabado was tipped off of fake certificates bearing her signature in order to solicit money from local government.

From Journal.com: “…Upon learning about the racket, Sabado wrote the councilors in the sixth district as well as Rep. Sandy Ocampo not to entertain such solicitations supposedly coming from her barangay…. This prompted Sabado to hold a meeting and decided to have him arrested, after the latter was positively identified as the one distributing the solicitation letters…”
