Clara del Valle is a Pandaqueña
Who would have thought that Julia Montes who plays Clara del Valle in primetime series “Mara Clara” is a Pandaqueña?
Yes, Julia Montes used to stay and live with her family, somewhere in Laura St. (Barangay 860) in Pandacan, Manila! You can ask Chairman Gaddy Boongaling for verification. =)
Julia’s real name is Mara Montes Schnittka. She was born on March 19, 1995 in Quezon City. A half-German, she now stands 5’5. Her first exposures on television started via TV. She appeared in the advertisements for Nido, Stick-O, Nestlé Almusal, Delmonte and Jollibee.
Julia she was cast in a number of GMA-7 shows like Sana Ikaw Na Nga as the daughter of actors Robin da Rosa and Angelu de Leon.
For true kapamilyas, Julia became a part of Goin’ Bulilit. Today, she is enjoying her role as Clara del Valle/David. And who’s not impressed with her acting? She’s somehow equated – or surpassed – Gladys Reyes’s portrayal.
Julia is being paired with John Manalo. She also appears in Shout Out! every afternoon. Now 16, she is a graduating senior at Blessed Hope Christian School in Pandacan, Manila.
So what’s next for Julia? She will play Eliza Fajardo in the next series titled Nakagapos sa Puso.
Let us support Julia and wish her all the best! Pandacan is so proud you, Julia. Stay humble.
(The writer had a personal experience with Julia. Julia represented Barangay 860 in Zone 94 Sports Fest last July 2009. The writer hosted the launching/opening of the sports fest and found Julia really attractive, nice and soft-spoken.)
Infobit about Pandacan:
The Manila district of Pandacan did not earn its name because its early inhabitants were short or pandak. The actual root name is Pandanan, “a place where the pandan plant grows abundantly.” But the Spanish conquistadors had a hard time pronouncing the name and subsequently corrupted it to Pandacan.
