We are a group of students from UP Diliman. As part of our requirements for Art Studies 1, we would like to ask some questions regarding the Buling-Buling festival. Below is the list of questions:

1. What is the festival's significance to the community?
2. In your opinion, how was the town able to preserve this tradition, considering its close proximity to the capital which is the center of change brought about by globalization and industrialization?
3. Do the festival committees receive any support from the local/national government or other institutions in Pandacan?
4. How do you plan to preserve this tradition for the younger generation?

Please indicate your name and participation on the recently concluded Buling- Buling festival. We look forward to your kind response.

Thank you.

Hello J.L., thanks for your interest in our town's Buling-Buling.

The significance of this festival is to honor the town's patron, Sto. Nino.

Currently, Samahang Sining at Kalinangan ng Pandacan is the most

active organization spearheading the town's festivities. I believe the

group is getting financial help from various sponsors. You can find

them on facebook and multiply.com page. Look for Robert Tomas

for questions regarding Buling-Buling's future.

Pandacan also has a lot of seniors who are leaders of various civic

group. One of them is Mr. Antonio Santos; you can also find him on

facebook, but I think he prefers to use email, which can easily be

googled if you are interested to ask him a few questions.

Personally, I think Buling-Buling still lacks promotions despite past

TV appearances. On the town level, I believe the participants should

parade around the whole town – or at least on all major arteries – to

increase the residents' awareness of the event. Start here, then the

rest follows.

Good luck in your studies and I hope this information, although

small, helps you and your groupmates in some way.
